Even though the PC gaming show is only in its third year, it sure packed a huge punch this year. Here are the best announcements from E3 2017:
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
The announcement of the massive expansion to XCOM 2, called War of the Chosen, opened the show with a bang. It will be released on August 29. The expansion will bring everyone together to fight the Chosen.
It was also revealed that three factions will be featured in this expansion: the Reapers, who are stealthy marksmen; Skirmishers, who are defectors from the alien army; and the Templars, who build up power over multiple attacks. Players will have to win over each faction in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen.
Ooblets might be the cutest game announced this E3. During the PC Gaming Show, PC Gamer hosts showed a clip of Ooblets, a farming life and creature collection game inspired by Pokémon, Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing.
You can “manage your farm, grow and train your ooblets to run errands and unlock the mysteries of Oob.” Published by the San Francisco-based company Double Fine Productions, Ooblets will launch for PC and Xbox One next year.
Total War: Warhammer II
This game looked pretty darn good! Even though Total War: Warhammer was just released last year, developer Creative Assembly has managed to add a new story in the Total War series with Total War: Warhammer 2. We only know about three of them so far — high elves, lizardmen and dark elves. But a fourth will be detailed at some point later.
In today’s presentation, they showed a video of a quest battle for the Fallen Gates which pitted the lizardmen against the elves. The game will be released on September 28th.
Ylands is both a sandbox game and a platform for making custom scenarios, ranging from simple levels to sophisticated adventures. Bohemia Interactive assured gamers that just like other sandbox games, it will support in-game modding with an in-game editor.
Ylands is a polygonal crafting, exploration, and survival sandbox game that has a decidedly humorous tone. The alpha version of the game is available as part of the developer’s incubator program, and it will hit Steam very soon.
