Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy XV to mobile devices.
The company recently unveiled that a Pocket Edition of the role-playing game will hit Android, iOS, and Windows this fall. While the game is not completely free to play, you can experience the world of Eos on its first episode which is totally free. The game will include the “main story” and same characters, but don’t expect a carbon copy of the game from the console version.
The trailer shows a selection of scenes from the original game, in chibi form. From the trailer, we can see that gameplay and combat will remain the same, although tweaked and simplified for mobile play. Square Enix want this to be a version of Final Fantasy XV which gives players the freedom to play Noctis and the gang wherever they want.
It is unheard of for a high-profile game that is still current to get a mobile remake.
Square Enix has already released some previous Final Fantasy games for the mobile platform and the games have been well received. We will soon see if the FFXV mobile remake will turn out well.
