The long-awaited villain has finally been brought to light! The hype train started back in 2014 when Overwatch teased his gauntlet in the Overwatch museum. Since then, players have always anticipated his arrival after every announcement of a new hero. One of the biggest teases was the appearance of a massive indentation that looked like a fist in a Numbani wall. Soon after, players were slightly disappointed to find out that it was Orisa.
Doomfist, or Akande Ogundimu, is equipped with cybernetics that makes him a powerful and offensive fighter. Doomfist is a wicked character among the likes of Reaper and Widowmaker. According to Overwatch’s lore, he was born into a well-regarded Nigerian family, heir to its prosthetic-technology company.
He lost his right arm in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis. Doomfist’s right arm was later infused with cybernetic prosthetics, allowing recovery from his injuries.
With his dark ambition, he killed his teacher and took the mantle of Doomfist and became a leader. This gauntlet-bearing villain is considered to be one of the world’s greatest threats, being one of the leaders of the Talon.
This nefarious villain is deadly on the front line, armed with the ability to knock any rival down. According to Blizzard, “Doomfist can slam the ground, knock enemies into the air and off balance, or charge into the fray with his Rocket Punch. When facing a tightly packed group, Doomfist leaps out of view, then crashes down to earth with a spectacular Meteor Strike.”
While he is undoubtedly a deadly up close and personal opponent, don’t let your guard down when fighting him from afar. Doomfist’s gauntlet also serves as a lethal hand cannon that must not be taken lightly. Be on the lookout for his shield called “the Best Defense.”
While Doomfist is only out for Overwatch’s public test servers, players are already predicting his release date. Based on the previous characters, specifically Orisa, some gamers predict forecast that we’ll be able to play the character by August 1.
Overwatch players can now rest easy knowing that one of their most awaited characters is finally being brought to life.
