Granado Espada, the first MMORPG to have multiple character controls, will get a new Southeast Asia server. Notably, the SEA server for Granado Espada which was handled by IAH Games in Singapore was closed last April 27. The game was first released 10 years ago in 2007.
The company cited a decline in the number of players and financial problems for the decision to close down the server. In its Facebook post, IAH Games said:
We have explored all the options of keeping the games (sic) alive – including having some of the top gamers study the possibility of taking over the game management. They promptly turn (sic) it down when they realize (sic) the cost of running the game. It’s just not worth it.
Just last month, imc Games has announced that it will be reopening a new SEA server for Granado Espada. The game’s website indicates that the new server will open this month. However, nearly two weeks in and the company has not made any new announcements or specified a specific date for the opening of the server.
While most MMORPGs suffer in the story department, Granado Espada shines with it’s story although it is hampered by a poor translation job which degrades the experience. Still, the ability to recruit in game characters into your squad has attracted a dedicated fanbase that continue to play the game. To be able to recruit characters into your family, you will to perform a variety of quests to earn their favor and they will eventually join you. Currently, players are able to recruit more than a hundred characters into their family. Characters each have their own storyline.
You can view the trailer below. It’s a 10-year old so the graphics will look a bit dated.
