Samurai action epic role-playing game Nioh is getting its second DLC pack. Developer Team Ninja has confirmed that the DLC will be called Defiant Honor. Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, creative director Tom Lee said that new weapons, armor, magic items, and enemies will be introduced in the update and explained the DLC’s setting:
Defiant Honor takes us to Osaka Castle, the largest and most impregnable castle of Sengoku era. This add-on features the legendary warrior Sanada Yukimura, serving Tokugawa Ieyasu’s archenemy Toyotomi clan, who values honor above all else. As tensions brew between the Tokugawa and Toyotomi clans, Sanada Yukimura prepares his men for imminent conflict against the Tokugawa’s forces by building a stronghold called the Sanada Maru on the outskirts of the Osaka Castle. With the castle fortified, Tokugawa’s forces were faced with a difficult and bloody challenge. Meanwhile, the hero of Nioh, William, finds himself caught in the middle of the conflict as he makes his way towards Sanada Maru in the bitter cold in pursuit of Maria.
The DLC will have new difficulty levels and Trophies. Legendary characters such as Sanada Yukimura, who is revered as “the greatest warrior of all Japan,” is featured as well. All this action takes place within exciting new stages and numerous sub-missions. With all these features, there’s plenty of combat to be experience and new challenges to be mastered.
Nioh takes place in the early 1600s during a fictionalized version of the Sengoku period. It was a time when Japan was in the midst of civil war prior to the ascension of the Tokugawa shogunate. A man named William is in pursuit of an enemy. When he arrives in Japan, he is enlisted by Hattori Hanzo to defeat yōkai that are flourishing in the chaos of war.
