Fans of Xenogears, a role-playing game released in 1998 for the PlayStation, will be delighted to know that Square Enix will be releasing an action figure for Weltall. Weltall is a mech piloted by Fei Fong Wong, the main protagonist of the game. Mechs are referred to as “gears” within the game.
There is not much information yet but we do know that the action figure will be designed by Ishigaki Junya which is also known for his work in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, Kidô senshi V Gundam, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Shakugan no Shana III. No release date has been announced for the figure. But we do have images for the prototype.
Xenogears is still available on the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita as a PlayStation Classic emulated title. Xenogears was supposedly episode 5 of a series which was supposed to go for 6 episodes. However, the game failed to sell 1 million copies, which was just shy of 900,000 so the other episodes were dropped. The game has been known for having very long dialogues that last for hours.
While Xenogears was dropped, Xenosaga, which was released on the PS2 and achieved more success.
