Bandai Namco announced at Anime Expo that the mobile game Tales of the Rays, which was previously released in Japan, will be released in the West. It was revealed that the game will be free-to-play and will be available for both iOS and Android.
Console-Quality For Mobile Gamers
The game’s producers say that the game will have “console-quality” on mobile platforms. What makes this particular game so special is that it looks and feels like the kind of RPG you’d see on the Xbox One or PS4.
Here are the details as of now from Bandai Namco’s Producer Yasuhiro Ikeno:
Tales of the Rays features console-quality graphics and gameplay, including the all-new Linear Motion Battles system, with simple controls optimised for mobile devices. Fans can look forward to stories told through animated cut-scenes with the classic soundtrack and music, as well as limited time events with special bonuses.
We created Tales of The Rays with the intent to make it the best all-star character game ever. The story, music, and game design are handled by the very same team who brought you the Tales series on console, and the character design, voice acting, and opening animation are masterfully crafted by the hottest artists in Japan today. We’re all very happy to be able to share the amazing storytelling and 3D gameplay with you, and our hope is that you’re looking forward to the game’s release as much as we are.
Tales Of The Rays Game Features
Game accounts are tied up to the region you have registered in. This means you will not be able to transfer your character data from the Japanese server to the Global servers. The game does not feature a multiplayer component at the moment. Furthermore, it appears that the global version may receive new content six months after the Japanese release.
The game was released in Japan last March. As with most mobile games adapted from the Japanese game, the content in the global version would most likely be the same as the global counterpart.
The game features scenes and quests to watch, along with a 3D world map, dungeons, and treasures to find. In addition, the game will have a bit of original music from Motoi Sakuraba and Go Shiina. It will also feature some old Tales tracks.
Tales of the Rays is a mobile title from the Tales series. The story was created by veteran scenario writer Takumi Yajima, who has worked on titles such as Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss. The game includes characters and aspects from other games in the series.
