iMGM and Warner Bros. have shared the first official poster and trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot that will be released in March 2018.
Starring Alicia Vikander (Testament of Youth, Ex Machina) as the globetrotting archaeologist Lara Croft. The movie will be based on Crystal Dynamic’s 2013 video game of the same name. A 21-year-old bike courier in East London who refuses to follow in her father’s entrepreneurial footsteps, Croft leaves behind her old life and goes in search of her father’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island off the coast of Japan. The re-boot comes more than 15 years after Angelina Jolie first brought the adventurer to the big screen.
The movie will be a fresh re-start for Lara Croft as she has not discovered her ax-wielding ala Indiana Jones talent and has not gone on any adventures yet.
The movie is directed by Roar Uthaug and is written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Apart from Vikander, the cast includes Hannah John-Kamen and Walton Goggins A short teaser also dropped on Monday, a day before the film’s first trailer is set to premiere:

The teaser trailer is focused on the action, and it’ll be fun to see an actress of Vikander’s caliber in such a physical role. Here’s hoping Uthaug can give us some unique visual set pieces for this story, as of what could be the start of a new and strong franchise.
