A group of users on Wikipedia has canvassed that that the PC being included in the “Comparison of gaming platforms” list “serves no encyclopedic value.”
In Wikipedia jargon, canvassing is referred to as the act when a group of users try to “[influence] the outcome of a discussion in a particular way, and is considered inappropriate. This is because it compromises the normal consensus decision-making process, and therefore is generally considered disruptive behavior”.
The users have succesfully deleted all refences to PC from the page on the grounds that “it is not a gaming platform” but the change has since been reverted.
And now, the same users are initiating the deletion of the page after their edits have been reverted. The users een added some fluff to vandalize the page to further validate their request for deletion.
The common opinion in the PC Master Race subreddit is that this was done by a console fanboy who just wants to remove the PC from the page. Others argue that the PC can play games hence it is a gaming machine. Similar to the current generation of consoles, the PC is not limited to gaming functionality. The same holds true for Android and iOS. Notably, the page also now lists Android and iOS as gaming platforms.
